Nissan is headed to the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) with not one but 12 vehicles, many of which are modified versions of existing cars. But the most exciting is the production version of the Nissan Fairlady Z Customized Proto concept we saw at the same event this year. Nissan hasn't detailed much at this stage, but the TAS press release from the automaker specifies that the car that will be displayed (pictured) is the "mass-market version" of the concept, which will be showcased alongside the Fairlady Z432R race car that inspired it.

While Nissan has yet to confirm the exact specification, it appears to have retained much of the concept's upgrades, most notably the new front bumper with a new twin-grille design that should fix the face of the Nissan Z - arguably the design element that has drawn the most criticism.

Other elements that have been retained include the orange and black two-tone paintwork, special Fairlady Z badging, black striping, and eight-spoke alloy wheels, although the production variant appears to have a polished lip and spokes instead of the all-black affair of the concept.

From the single supplied image (photos below are of the concept), it appears the only elements lost from the concept are the overfenders and the white tire lettering, but as we can't see the rear of the car, we are unable to tell if the prominent ducktail from the concept has been carried over.

The remainder of Nissan's TAS 2023 display will comprise a mix of concept, modified, racing, and production vehicles.

First up, a shadowy teaser showcases the Roox Suite Concept based on the Nissan Roox kei car. While the English press release gives away little, the Japanese one tells us the concept has a spacious interior with an electric piano and premium seating where you can "celebrate your special day with your important partner."

Other modified concepts include a modified workman's version of the Nissan Caravan with tool racks and portable power packs and the Cube Refreshed & Retro concept, taking a secondhand Cube (which ended production in 2019) and updating it with retro-look body parts.

An accessory concept based on the Nissan Serena called the Highway Star Accessory concept will be present, as will a Serena Autech customized version with a unique body kit and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Two mobility concepts based on the Nissan Sakura and Ariya EVs will feature with matching wraps, while a modified X-Trail (Nissan Rogue in America) Autech customized will boost sportier looks and 10-inch alloy wheels, and the Note Aura Nismo will feature a Formula-E-inspired makeover as a future Nismo product. Lastly, the Motul Autech Z race car will be on display, which was campaigned by Tsugio Matsuda and Ronnie Quintarelli in the Super GT500 classes.
