Newport Convertible Engineering of Huntington,California has just announced that it will build a highly-limited Cabrio editionof the Nissan GT-R. The topless GT-R will be marketed in three worldwide locations:its US headquarters in sunny California, Barcelona, Spain, and of course Dubai. Though details are still limited, Newport Convertible Engineering says ithas three designs available for customer bespoke orders.
While the added roof-mechanism weight mightsomewhat slow down the monstrous 545-horsepower GT-R- which makes 0-60 mph in aslittle as 2.8 seconds, we expect the Cabrio to be a real beauty and still retain a lot of the coupe's performance abilities. NCE hasalready produced special edition convertibles for various models from RollsRoyce, Range Rover, Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford,Honda, Jaguar, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan, Pontiac, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen,Volvo and even an Acura TL.
