Nissan Prepares New-Generation Titan for Detroit Debut

Spy Shots

Prototype spied in four-door crew cab form.

The long overdue overhaul of the Nissan Titan is apparently close to completion as sightings of a prototype model ahead of the next-gen pickup's unveiling at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January demonstrate. The new Nissan pickup will finally receive a competitive powerplant in the form of a Cummins-sourced 5.0-liter V8 turbo-diesel churning out around 300 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque, while a 5.6-liter V8 gasoline unit is expected to be offered shortly after.

Our spy photographer captured the four-door crew cab model, while extended cab and regular cab configurations are also expected. Compared to the current model, the grille opening on the new Titan looks to have grown and now features three cheese-grater cross bars. Other new details include vertically-stacked headlights and chrome-covered adjustable towing mirrors. After debuting in Detroit, the diesel Titan will launch in September 2015, and the gasoline variant in January 2016.
