The new Nissan Note was unveiled at a world premiere held in Yokohama. A European variant is expected early 2013.

Nissan's new global compact made its world debut in Yokohama over the weekend with sales expected to begin in Japan in early September. A European variant of the new Note, with unique detailing and dynamic set-up, will be unveiled in early 2013. The new hatchback combines advanced engine technology, a lightweight platform and enhanced aerodynamics, resulting in class-leading efficiency and emission levels. It also boasts Nissan's Around View Monitor (AVM), the first time this has been included in a compact.

The technology aims to make light work of reversing and parallel parking in tight spaces. A restyled body includes a character line dubbed the "Squash Line", an aerodynamic body shape and distinctive front grille, headlamps and rear combination lamps. A high-quality interior blends modernity with practicality. Two engines are being offered in Japan: a 1.2-liter straight-three with 79 horsepower and 80 lb-ft of torque and a new 1.2-liter supercharged three good for 97 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque. Nissan's XTRONIC CVT and Stop/Start system help deliver class-leading fuel consumption at 71 mpg.

Since launching in 2005, 940,000 units of the Note have been sold worldwide, and the new model hopes to build on that success. Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK will produce the models for Europe.
