Nissan is putting the 'big' in the big van segment, releasing today the NV3500 HD (heavy duty) passenger van. As a conversion from its commercial counterpart, the NV3500 HD contains plenty of space and room for up to 12 passengers. We have already seen a smaller variant of the NV for taxi duty in New York City, and this big variant doesn't disappoint. It comes with such features as removable seating and four rows of seats able to be arranged in 324 different configurations.

The Japanese van also offers class-exclusive side-impact airbags for each row of seating. Joe Castelli of Nissan North America said the company is "delivering a vehicle that offers everything owners are looking for - enhanced usability, driver and passenger comfort, flexible storage, dependability, durability and an affordable cost of ownership. Then we've topped it all off with signature Nissan style, performance and value." Nissan is offering a 4.0-liter DOHC V6 with an output of 261hp and 281lb-ft of torque and a DOHC V8 with an output of 317hp and 385lb-ft of torque.

Both are meant to personalize the van to fit whatever a customer may need. The new Nissan NV3500 HD will be offered in four different packages and be manufactured in Canton, Mississippi and available through a select network of certified Nissan Commercial Vehicle dealers nationwide.
