Can you picture him as an action star? Neither could we.
It's almost that time for the biggest, most-watched sporting event of the year, the Super Bowl. Sunday, February 13 is when the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams will face each in Super Bowl LVI. But what would the Super Bowl be without the awesome commercials brands of all kinds spend millions on for only 30 seconds or so of airtime?
Wasting no time, Nissan has begun building up the hype for its new commercial called "Thrill Driver" starring the most unexpected individual: Eugene Levy. Yeah, that Eugene Levy, the star and co-creator of Schitt's Creek. Joining Levy (who's sporting one heck of a mane) are actors Danai Gurira and Dave Bautista along with Captain Marvel herself and Nissan Brand Ambassador, Brie Larson.
For now, two separate video teasers have been released showing Levy behind the wheel of the 2023 Nissan Z sports car. The Japanese automaker hasn't revealed complete details about the commercial, only that Levy plays an action anti-hero called Dragon who joins forces with Hotshot (Gurira) and Pointman (Bautista). Anything Levy does is hilarious and we have no doubt he wouldn't have signed on for this project if it didn't meet up to his comedic standards.
Nissan is also taking this opportunity to announce a sweepstakes that'll see one extremely lucky winner receive a new 2023 Z car. All they have to do is head to the dedicated website and enter their details before midnight on February 15.
The latest Z car, internally known as the Z34, is not on sale just yet but should be in dealership lots this spring. Although it's based on the outgoing 370's rear-wheel-drive platform, engineers and designers have made a long list of major improvements. Under its hood lies a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Power is directed to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or optional nine-speed automatic transmission with launch control.
We won't be able to see the entire commercial, save for potentially additional teasers, until Game Day. Until then, enjoy Levy rocking it out (briefly) behind the wheel.
