Novitec Transforms Tesla Model Y Into Sporty Electric Crossover With Attitude

Subtle enhancements make a world of difference.

German tuner Novitec has announced a new refinement package for the ever-popular Tesla Model Y, elevating the style of the reserved crossover with carbon fiber bodywork and enhanced aerodynamics.

The rounded, aerodynamic design benefits from an athletic body styling kit finished in high gloss carbon fiber. A simple lip spoiler lends the front facia much-needed aggression and even reduces front axle lift. Novitec says this aids direction stability at high speed.

Along the side of the vehicle, you'll note the subtle side skirts, which, together with the new wheels, provide the Model Y with a less awkward profile. The high-end 22-inch Novitec NV2 alloys are rather special, having been developed and manufactured by Vossen.

What makes them so special? Their intricate design. Each set is made up of four distinct wheels, all optimized for a specific position on the vehicle. This means the wheel spokes always turn aerodynamically when on the move, enhancing brake cooling.

Lastly, the rear end has been treated to an aerodynamic spoiler and diffuser, both of which are finished in high gloss carbon fiber. If you're not a fan of a visible weave, Novitec will happily paint the new components in the vehicle color or a contrasting shade. The wheels can also be customized, with up to 72 colors for clients to choose from and two surface finishes.

While no improvements have been made to performance, Novitec has blessed the Model Y with superior handling.

The clever alloy wheels are wrapped in sticky 255/30 ZR 22 and 285/30 ZR 22 tires at the front and rear, respectively, and are assisted by the new height-adjustable aluminum sports suspension system. Novitec notes this is only available for AWD variants, though.

When fitted, the Tesla sits 1.57 inches closer to the ground. Naturally, this firms up the ride a bit, but there are other benefits aside from superior dynamism. The tuner says that power consumption can be reduced by as much as 7% on long-distance trips, benefitting range.

Customers not keen on the vegan leather used by Tesla will be pleased to know Novitec offers an array of interior options, including high-end leather and Alcantara upholstery. What's more, clients can even specify unique upholstery designs.

Novitec is no stranger to Tesla products and also offers refinement packages for the more upmarket Model X luxury SUV, as well as the Model S. As electric vehicles continue to find popularity, tuners have had to find ways to enhance these vehicles.

While it's not possible to eke out more performance in the same way as one does with ICE-powered cars, legendary tuners like Brabus have also started to upgrade high-end electric vehicles. The Bottrop-based tuner improved the styling and driving range of the EQS Sedan. The firm also turned its attention to the rapid Porsche Taycan, bestowing it with styling and luxury enhancements.

Novitec hasn't provided a price for the tasteful body kit, but with the newly reduced Tesla prices, perhaps you can justify spending a little extra to make your Model Y that bit more special.
