The Mercedes-Benz Collection subscription service now includes V8-powered AMGs.
Buyer's remorse affects all of us, but there can be no worse instance of the affliction than realizing that the car you signed up for - and have to pay off for the next couple of years - isn't making you as happy as you thought it would. This isn't an issue that affects subscribers to the Mercedes-Benz Collection service. For a (considerable) monthly fee, members can switch between different Mercedes-Benz models as their mood or requirements change.
Now, subscribers to the service have a lot more to get excited about as the manufacturer has introduced an AMG-exclusive tier to the service. A Mercedes-AMG 63 for the holidays and an S63 sedan for the daily drive to work? Sounds like a plan to us. Unfortunately, it's a plan that's currently restricted to Atlanta, Georgia.
"With the AMG-Exclusive tier, our subscribers now have unlimited access to world-class performance luxury at their fingertips," explained Heiko Schmidt, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Subscription services. "The pilot program in Atlanta is an incredible opportunity for our subscribers to be part of this rich tradition and experience the horsepower and thrill of the drive synonymous with our best-in-class Mercedes-AMG vehicles."
The AMG-Exclusive came about based on feedback from current Mercedes-Benz Collection subscribers who had driven AMG-spec Mercs. Unsurprisingly, many of them requested that these models become available as part of the program. "Customers can experience various AMG models, depending on their preferences, changing vehicles for any occasion," said Craig Walters, the Director of Mercedes-Benz Subscription Services.
So, what is the cost of driving a different Mercedes-Benz whenever it suits you? Prices start at $1,095 per month and there is a $495 activation fee. The AMG-Exclusive tier is much pricier at $3,595 per month, but it does include 24/7 roadside assistance, insurance, and maintenance regardless of mileage covered. Exchanging your vehicle - referred to as "schedule a flip" on the app - can be done with just a few taps.
Mercedes doesn't specifically say which AMG models can be chosen as part of the service, but they did make mention of "signature handcrafted V8 engines," so it's clear that subscribers won't be left with a V6-engined C43 sedan.
Of course, the service remains the preserve of the well-heeled, because nine months on the AMG-Exclusive tier means that you'll have spent the equivalent of a brand new A-Class sedan. Still, imagine driving a different AMG every other day?
