As many of you alredy know, the 3rd installment of the hugely successful Transformers movie series hits the big screen today. Breaking news has emerged from Chevy that the 5th generation black and yellow 'Bumblebee' Camaro will be available for order next month and ready for pick up by the fall. Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon, directed by Michael Bay, has exposed the Chevy brand up to a whole slew of new fans and has given GM an excellent platform to showcase their automobiles.

"Its role in the films helped make the Camaro the best-selling sports car in America, and one of the best-known cars of any kind around the world," said Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing in Chevy's press release late last night. The films have already grossed $1.5 billion in global box-office sales and according to Yahoo!Autos, the 2009 Camaro was the most-searched-for car on the web. 2010 marked the first time in 24 years the Ford Mustang was dethroned as the top-selling US sports car.

The special edition Bumblebee Camaro comes complete with Autobot badges on the fenders, black rally stripes on the hood, roof and tail, unique high-wing rear spoiler and black 20-inch alloy wheels complemented with Autobot-logo center caps. Dealers will have the added option of equipping the already hooked-up Camaro to match the theatrical version, which sports 21-inch wheels and a black ground effects kit. The 2012 Transformers Special Edition Camaro's interior is also completely designed to give the ride a very Transformers feel.

Black leather surfaces with sharp yellow stitching are adorned by Autobot logos for stunning effect, sitting on the headrests and center console lid. The 2012 Camaro Transformers Edition is available on either the 2LT or 2SS Camaro already equipped with the RS appearance package. The 2LT comes with a 3.6L 312hp V6 engine or you can opt for more power with the SS, which has a 6.2L 426hp V8. Pricing for the Transformers edition begins at an extra $3,000.
