Toyota has just unveiled the all-new Euro version of the subcompact Yaris. The new model is based on the Yaris HSD Hybrid prototype which was featured at the Geneva Motor Show last March. The new Yaris takes Toyota's new design theme, giving it more distinguishable creases in the body and more angular headlights. The major changes, however, are in the interior.

It no longer features the instrument binnacle in the middle of the dashboard but instead will be placed in front of the driver. The digital instruments with conventional gauges have also been replaced. It allows the driver to ditch the double glove box of the previous model and gain in instrument readability. It will be likely be powered by a choice of a three-cylinder 1.0-liter or a four-cylinder 1.3-liter gasoline engine. We do know that a hybrid version will be available later in 2012.

It will incorporate the automaker's Hybrid Synergy Drive mated with a 1.3- or 1.5-liter engine to better rival that of the Jazz Hybrid.
