Bugatti has just announced a new special edition Veyron Grand Sport for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Billed as the most powerful roadster ever, the Vitesse edition will pack a serious 1,200hp and 1,105 lb-ft of torque. The huge numbers that Bugatti gets from their 8-liter 16-cylinder engine comes thanks to four larger turbochargers and intercoolers. That means the standard open-top Grand Sport's 987hp and 922 lb-ft of torque has been increased significantly.

With an extra 213hp and 183 lb-ft of torque, this copies the boost recently seen in the closed-top Super Sport. "The rapid success of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport convinced us to increase the performance of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport roadster. Once again our engineers worked hard to demonstrate that Bugatti is able to constantly redefine the boundaries of what is technically feasible. We gave our all to transfer the achievements of the Super Sport over to the Grand Sport, thereby turning open-top driving itself into an extraordinary experience at high speed," explained Bugatti boss Wolfgang Durheimer.

Bugatti has yet to release the performance times for the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, however we can speculate that the 0-62mph will come close to 2.5 seconds and that it will reach a top speed of almost 258mph (short of the 268mph world record). Set to debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on March 6th, speculative pricing for the most powerful roadster ever has been rumored to be around £2,000,000.
