This is unquestionably one of the most anticipated debuts of 2015. McLaren is aiming to dethrone the Porsche 911 Turbo as the all-around ideal daily supercar. Called the Sports Series, confirmation has just come in that the new McLaren will be unveiled this coming spring, likely at Geneva or New York. For now, McLaren has released two official photos via its Facebook page, one of the car's front end covered in camouflage, along with a shot of an open falcon door.

The Sports Series will essentially be McLaren's entry-level model, powered by the same, although detuned version, of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 found in both the 650S and P1. By calling it a "series," McLaren is indicating that there'll be a range of bodystyles. What will debut this spring, the coupe, is only the first. Expect to see a spider and a lightweight GTS. If all goes to plan, Sports Series production will be completed by the end of 2016.
