5.5-meter long S-Class Maybach to be unveiled in LA.
Back in April, a report suggested Mercedes would resurrect the Maybach moniker at the LA Auto Show. Since then, we've seen the extra-long wheelbase S Class lapping the Nurburgring, and now we have official confirmation the car will definitely be unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show next month. Speaking to Car & Driver, Gordon Wagener, Mercedes’ head of global design, said the S-Class Maybach would be 5,500 mm long with the extra 254 mm going predominantly to the wheelbase.
Wagener also confirmed that just as AMG is synonymous with performance, Mercedes wants the relaunched Maybach sub-brand to be identified with ‘super-luxury’ or in his words “haute couture.” After the S-Class, a GL-Class by Maybach would follow with a luxury makeover, and later a S-Class Coupe and Convertible.
