Having been on sale since 2014, the Lexus NX is getting long in the tooth and looks outdated compared to the new RAV4, despite getting a facelift a few years ago. Thankfully, an official video that leaked earlier this year confirmed that an all-new version of the luxury SUV is just around the corner. Since the video showed the new NX in all its naked glory, we assumed the official debut would happen sooner rather than later.

Now, we know exactly when it will debut: Lexus has confirmed the all-new NX will be revealed to the world on June 12, 2021, at 12:00 pm JST (June 11, 11 pm EST).

Ahead of its debut, Lexus has released the first official image of the new NX previewing its redesigned rear, which incorporates narrower taillights and a full-width LED light bar.

From the leaked video (which has since been removed), we know the redesigned Lexus NX will feature slimmer headlights with integrated L-shaped daytime running lights, a large grille with a new mesh pattern, and smoother lines giving the luxury SUV a sleeker look.

The interior will also be more premium than the outgoing NX, with a larger infotainment screen and a new digital instrument cluster that will bring the cabin up to modern standards.

Engine options have not been confirmed yet, but the new NX is expected to be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time. Riding on the same TNGA-K platform that underpins the Toyota RAV4, there's a good chance the PHEV will share the same setup as the popular RAV4 Prime, which utilizes a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a pair of electric motors producing 302 hp combined.

Likewise, the new Lexus NX 350h will most likely borrow the RAV4 Hybrid's electrified 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 219 hp. More details will be confirmed when the 2022 Lexus NX debuts next week.
