We're getting closer and closer to the reveal of the reborn Toyota Supra, assuming the Japanese automaker intends to go with that name. We hope so, because these new production-spec renderings from the Supramkv.com forum, based directly from recent spy shots, look brilliant. This is the performance sports car we want Toyota to bring back. Compared to the FT-1 Concept, these spy shot-based renderings look awfully like that striking concept design.

Take note of the large front air intakes as well as the aggressive headlight design, though only the former can be seen on the spy shots. Out back, it seems as if Toyota has managed to retain the concept's tapered design, again reflected in the renderings. What's for sure is that the new Supra will look more aggressive than the current Toyota 86, a great sports car that we always felt deserved a better exterior design. Of course, great styling deserves a proper engine, a subject which Toyota has also kept a closely guarded secret. However, a previous report indicated the top-of-the-line Supra could come powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 developed in Japan.

A hybrid option is also a possibility. An official reveal date still hasn't been set, but we suspect we'll see something revealed later this year or early 2018. In the meantime, let us know what you think of these awesome renderings.
