Seriously now. Answers are needed.
This isn't the first time this has happened, and if the engineering folks at GM don't get to the bottom of it fast, then more Corvette Z06 engines will fail. Yep, that's right. Yet another brand-new supercharged, 6.2-liter LT4 V8 has suffered engine failure, only this time it happened during an official test drive review by Fox News journalist Gary Gastelu. In a previous instance, Z06 engine failure was experienced by a member of the Corvette Forum after only six miles on the clock. It didn't end there.
Another forum member experienced nearly the same thing after 891 miles. In the latter case, we know GM replaced the engine under warranty. But this latest debacle is particularly embarrassing. Gastelu described what happened: "After a few lapping sessions, the engine in mine unceremoniously called it quits. There was oil, some bits and pieces, unpleasant noises. It was not pretty. The cause? Yet to be determined." GM, it's time for some answers already.
