Pagani builds some of the world's most exclusive and expensive supercars, and this 2010 Pagani Zonda R Evolution, for sale by RM Sotheby's, is a prime example of this Italian carmaker's skill and vision.

While most fans are currently busy drooling over new models such as the Pagani Utopia, many others are keeping a keen eye on the auction market. We've previously covered some seriously exclusive Pagani cars, including the sale of Lewis Hamilton's Purple Pagani Zonda LH760, which netted him a cool $11.3 million.

The Zonda R Evolution you see here is one of the rarest examples ever created; only ten exist, and this is number five.

Built between 2009 and 2011, this Pagani Zonda was built up to the extreme R Evolution spec at the Pagani factory in 2014. It has retained its lap record at the Nurburgring for non-series, production-based, gasoline-powered cars since July 2010.

The Zonda R features an upgraded version of the Zonda F chassis that features a carbon-titanium monocoque and uses just 10% of preexisting parts made by Pagani; the rest is all bespoke for this car.

The exterior features four projector beam lamps, loads of spoilers and diffusers, and a massive rear wing. Under the hood, you'll find a naturally aspirated, Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR-derived 6.0-liter V-12 engine producing 780 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transaxle gearbox with a multi-disc racing clutch and lightweight magnesium casing. Exhaust fumes are redirected via a set of ceramic-coated Inconel 625 headers.

This car was upgraded to R Evolution specification by the Pagani factory in 2014, which bumps power by 30 horses and adds chassis mods such as a new set of Ohlins dampers and lightweight magnesium alloy wheels. Downforce is increased by adding a secondary rear wing, while the front gets additional downforce planes.

The exterior is styled with exposed carbon and "Tricolore" accents. This model received a significant service costing nearly $30,000 in April of 2022, including a set of new Pirelli tires, a new fuel tank, and a complete fuel system flush. The car also features Pagani's most recent Zonda R driveshaft updates.

It's set to go on auction at RM Sotheby's Amelia Island event on 4 March 2023, and we're sure it will sell for many dollars. We'll be happy with a Lego set for now.
