One of the rarest Mercedes-Benz ever produced has officially been put up for sale in North Carolina. The thing is, this isn't the first time that this incredibly rare Mercedes has appeared on the market. It actually appeared up for auction just over a year ago. Can you figure out why it's having trouble finding a permanent home? Here's a little background on this crazy one-off ride. This 1995 Lotec Mercedes-Benz C1000 was originally built as a bespoke supercar for a wealthy oil tycoon in the United Arab Emirates.

The rich Arab car fanatic had a dream to own the fastest street-legal car in the world and commissioned German sports car manufacturer Lotec to make his vision a reality. Lotec collaborated with Mercedes-Benz, and after five years of working on the project the C1000 was born. The one of a kind Mercedes has a twin-turbo 5.6-liter V8 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission by Hewland. The car can hit 60mph in 3.2 seconds and has an insane top speed of 268 mph. It's also absolutely hideous. However, the C1000 was certainly ahead of its time when it was built and can likely still hold its own against the likes of some modern supercars. The ultra-rare Mercedes is now back on the market for a cool $1.2 million.
