According to Hagerty, the Mustang Shelby GT500 from the opening scene of 2007's I Am Legend movie ranks at number 5 in its "10 Best Movie Mustangs Of All Time" list. In the opening sequence of the movie, we see US Army virologist Robert Neville driving through the deserted streets of post-apocalyptic New York City. When he spots a herd of deer, he starts chasing them at speed after failing to line up a shot with his rifle from inside the car. It's the only time we see the red 2007 GT500 in the movie, but once you hear the soundtrack of that blown 5.4-liter Shelby engine through the speakers, it becomes clear why Hagerty thinks so much of it.

A total of 6 of these cars were used for I Am Legend in a wonderful piece of product placement, but only one survives. Once the production of the movie was a wrap, Ford reportedly sent the remaining five cars to the crusher. This one, driven by Will Smith in the movie and used for beauty shots, survived and has been stored, maintained, and serviced by the production company. Until now anyway, as it has just popped up for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now price of $150,000.00. It's being sold by a car dealer in New Milford, Connecticut who's listing also shows the dealer's keyboard has a stuck caps lock key.

The ad says, "SOMTIMES EMAIL DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK," so if you're interested, then we suggest you call and hope the number is for a landline. The I Am Legend Mustang does look genuine, though, and the dealer claims there is a "full certification showing its authenticity." It should be easy enough to follow up and check the car's history and contact the production company to make sure it's the real deal. Whether it's worth $150,000 is hard to call. Low mileage examples not used in movies are selling for $50-70,000, and this one only has around 6,000 miles on the clock.
