Despite being consistently outsold by the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, the Chevrolet Camaro is still soldiering on. Rumors suggest the current-generation model will carry on for a few more years and that Chevrolet will launch a Heritage Edition in 2024 to give the current-generation a special send-off.

In Japan, however, Chevrolet has already launched a new special-edition variant dubbed the Wild Cherry Edition. Limited to only 10 examples, the special-edition Camaro will not be available outside the Land of the Rising Sun. What sets the Chevrolet Camaro Wild Cherry Edition apart?

The clue is in the name. The Japan-only Camaro is finished in Wild Cherry Tint Coat red paint with contrasting silver stripes adorning the hood. It also rides on unique five split-spoke wheels painted in silver. Inside, the interior is trimmed in jet black with adrenaline red accents, though no photos of the cabin have been provided.

Starting at 5,990,000 yen ($52,789), the Wild Cherry Edition is based on Japan's entry-level Camaro LT RS trim, which is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo. In the US, this unit generates 275 hp and 295 lb-ft in the entry-level 1LS.

In Japan, the RS convertible starts at 6,590,000 ($58,077), while the range-topping Camaro SS costs 7,290,000 yen ($64,246). Sales of the Wild Cherry Edition have already begun in Japan, with deliveries starting in May 2022.

We're not too sad that the Chevrolet Camaro Wild Cherry Edition isn't being sold in the US, though. If it looks familiar, that's because the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro can be configured with the Wild Cherry Tintcoat paint finish for a $495 premium. Center silver rally stripes can also be added for an extra $470, replicating the look of Japan's Wild Cherry Edition. This is the first time the Wild Cherry Tintcoat color has been available in Japan, however.
