As in Alonso the pro F1 driver.
Many gearheads hear "Ferrari" and only think flashy sports cars and rare supercars. That's not far off, but remember that the Italian automaker also races. Its F1 team is celebrated with the 599 GTB Alonso Final Edition, or 60F1, seen here. This special edition pays tribute to driver Fernando Alonso who raced with Ferrari from 2010 to 2014. Only 40 of these special 599 GTBs were made and each one celebrates a very specific moment in racing history.
Way back in 1951 Ferrari driver Jose Froilan Gonzales won the British Grand Prix, the automaker's first Formula One win. Sixty years later Alonso won the same race, hence the special edition celebrating 60 years of Ferrari F1 wins. The 60F1 has the same engine as the 599, a 6.0-liter V12 good for 611 horsepower. However, it gets the HGTE handling package that includes tighter suspension, shorter springs and stiffer anti-roll bars. This specific example is going up for auction soon and is expected to fetch between $300,000 and $350,000. We wouldn't be shocked if it went for much more. Hell, Ferraris nowadays are going for tens of millions of dollars at auction which makes $350k look cheap.
