This is not the first time Chevrolet has done this and most likely won't be the last. If anyone recalls, last August the Bow Tie brand initiated an interesting discount on 2019 Camaros aimed specifically at Ford Mustang owners. You read that right. Chevy thinks there's a chance some Mustang owners are willing to jump ship – for the right price. Money always talks. And now that discount has returned for this month.

According to GM Authority, Chevy is currently offering a $3,000 discount off any 2019 Camaro for anyone who currently owns a Mustang. This price cut has been increased by $500 since August likely because Camaro sales, in general, have dropped.

Chevy reports third-quarter Camaro sales dropped by 15 percent. They were also down in Q2 after a temporary rebound in the first part of this year. The Camaro has been and remains in third place behind the Mustang and Dodge Challenger. Question is, will Mustang owners take the bait? It's a financially tempting offer that works like this: all Camaro trims, from the base LS to the hardcore ZL1 are eligible as long as the customer is a current Mustang owner for at least the past 30 days. It's that simple. Not a Mustang owner? Chevy is still offering a $1,000 discount on all Camaro trims this month.

Do the math and Mustang owners can buy a new Camaro (assuming they're even interested) for as little as $22,995 (base LS begins at $25,995). At the opposite end of the spectrum, the ZL1's starting price drops to $59,995 from $62,995. Will these conquest incentives pay off for Chevy?

Hard to tell right now but given that Camaro sales were still down in August after the $2,500 discount also aimed at Mustang drivers, it's a little hard to believe $500 will suddenly entice anyone to switch sides. This offer is only good through October 31 for American customers only.
