Set to have its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, Opel has just released official details and photos of its Adam R2 rally car concept. The project is part of the automaker's efforts to further promote customer rallying. Its final development and homologation are planned for later this year. Powered by a 1.6-liter 16V engine that produces around 185 horsepower and mated to a sequential five-speed gearbox, the R2 concept is built to FIA R2 regulations and based on the Adam Cup.

Other mechanical features include Brembo brakes and a roof-mounted air scoop. With its OPC body kit, the Adam R2 also features racing elements such as an integrated safety structure, quick hood and tailgate releases, under-ride guards front and rear, and a chassis setup that includes asphalt and gravel settings that guarantees maximum traction and handling. The interior comes with SPARCO Competition racing seats, an LCD gear indicator, trip computer, electric fire extinguisher and a map reading light. At some point in the near future, the Adam R2 will be eligible to compete in a variety of competitions throughout Europe.
