Opel Insignia Facelift Spied

Spy Shots

The Buick Regal’s European cousin is getting a mid-cycle facelift.

Launched in 2008, Opel has deemed it time for its best-selling car to have a mid-cycle refresh. These spy shots reveal the Insignia undergoing winter testing and with a debut expected at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the 2014 MY looks close to the finished article. There are new front and rear bumper designs, as well as a newly shaped, enlarged grille and new hood. At the back, the rear lights have gained a chrome strip borrowed from the new Cascada Convertible.

The interior will also be updated with a bigger satnav and upgraded infotainment system, and newly shaped air outlets on the dash. We also expect some new engines, including an enhanced OPC model packing a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 capable of 400 horsepower. The Insignia's American cousin the Buick Regal will also benefit from similar updates later in the year.
