Geneva-bound high-performance OPC Extreme will be fastest, most powerful street-legal Astra ever built.
Based on the 2013 Opel Astra Cup racecar, Opel has revealed a stripped-out hardcore version of the Astra OPC it says is the quickest and most powerful production Astra road car ever built. Dubbed the Extreme, it comes packing a host of race-bred modifications such as aerodynamic upgrades, racing seats, six-point harnesses, and plenty of carbon fiber.
The new Opel Astra OPC (Vauxhall Astra VXR in the UK) Extreme also comes with a quad-exit exhaust system, new bumpers, a fixed rear wing and bespoke alloys. While no specs were forthcoming, the Astra OPC Extreme will be good for over 300 hp compared to the stock VXR’s 276 hp generated by a 2.0-liter turbo-four pot. Opel plans to unveil the Astra OPC Extreme at the Geneva Motor Show in March before embarking on a low-volume production run.
