The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California is a must-visit destination for car lovers. Housing some spectacular automotive legends, Petersen's collection includes prototypes of the Chevrolet Corvette, pre-war cars, and even Hollywood legends like the DMC-12 DeLorean and the Batmobile. Following the Covid-19 outbreak, the museum opened its massive collection to virtual tours and now, it will host a virtual car week.

Like most other car shows, the upcoming Monterey Car Week was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. There may not be any in-person events but the Petersen Automotive Museum will host a virtual alternative from August 12 to 16. The virtual events will include live vehicle debuts, online auctions, exclusive interviews, car shows, and a celebrity-judged Concours.

Each day of the Petersen Car Week will feature a video on the museum's YouTube channel utilizing user-submitted videos and content. The schedule of events includes a pre-show called "The Road to Petersen Car Week" from August 1-10; a kickoff show on August 12; a virtual tour d'Elegance, live auction, and vehicle unveil on August 13; a Porsche show, auction, and vehicle spotlight on August 14; vintage racing, hypercar show, and auction on August 15; concluding with the Petersen Concours d'Elegance and concept car showing on August 16.

Car enthusiasts who wish to enter their vehicles into the Virtual San Marino Classic Car Week, Concours d'Elegance, McCalls Motorworks Revival, Future Classic Car Show, PCA Porsche Only Show, Concorso Italiano, or Exotics on Broadway can do so on the Petersen website. July 10 is the deadline for submissions.

"What makes Monterey Car Week special each year is the wide variety of events held around the peninsula for enthusiasts to gather among automotive history, share their passion and experience new vehicles from global manufacturers," said Petersen Executive Director Terry L. Karges. "Given the circumstances, we are happy to provide a new experience for global enthusiasts by offering some of the key aspects of the week. Although we'd much rather be enjoying car week in person, we are excited to distill the essence of Monterey Car Week into something virtual and make the events accessible to everyone."
