Hoping to give Mini a proper fight next year.
With wins in the past three years, Mini has dominated the Dakar Rally in recent years. Peugeot is looking to challenge the carmaker’s superiority in 2015 as it returns to the rally sponsored by Red Bull. The new Peugeot 2008 DKR is being prepped for the challenge, and comes fitted with super-wide fenders housing 37-inch Michelin tires, large rear wing, a lifted suspension, a very short overhang and just two doors. Essentially it looks nothing like the 2008.
No word on the powertrain, save for the fact it will use two-wheel drive in order to run bigger tires and more suspension travel.More details will be revealed at the Beijing Motor Show next week. The Dakar Rally is scheduled for January 2015, with Dakar veterans Carolos Sainz and Cyril Despres representing Team Peugeot Total.
