With 875 horsepower and a 1.8-second 0-62 time, this is not your average Peugeot hatchback.
Given the slow pace at which Peugeot has rolled out its new Pikes Peak challenger, we’ve been holding out hope that the finished product would be a bit faster. And boy, is it. Following an earlier announcement, teaser shots and final photos, Peugeot has released the full details on the highly-modified 208 T16 which 9-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb will drive up the hill in the famous Race to the Clouds. And what we're looking at here is an 875-horsepower hill-climb beast.
The 208 T16 Pikes Peak packs a twin-turbo 3.2-liter V6 mounted amidships and sending 875 hp to all four Michelin-coated 18" mags. The whole vehicle weighs just 875 kilograms, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of (carry the two, divide by the square root of Pi…) one-to-one! With such an optimized ratio, Peugeot is quoting acceleration at 1.8 seconds to reach 62 mph, hitting its top speed of 150 mph in seven seconds flat. And with an aero package including a front splitter that could double as a dinner table and the rear wing from the 908 LMP, Seb's new ride promises to rocket up the hillside and around its 156 turns at blistering pace.
