There was a time when the Tokyo Motor Show was one of the biggest and most exciting automotive events in the world. Back in the 1990s, the show played host to some of the most awe-inspiring concepts, sports cars, and emerging luxury brands (such as Lexus). Unfortunately, things have changed in the early 21st century due to a combination of factors. These not only include the after effects from the natural disasters last March, but also the continued downturn of the Japanese economy which started long before the earthquake and tsunami.

However, we did get to see the big reveals of the Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ along with plenty of concepts from all of the Japanese automakers. Enjoy the collection of photos and let us know what car(s) struck you as the most relevant of this year's Tokyo show. Photos courtesy of Dino Dalle Carbonare via Speedhunters
