New supercar marques arrive on the scene every year. Some make it, some don't. And we're sure 2019 will be no exception in that regard. But one we're looking forward to seeing materialize the most is the Pininfarina Battista, previewed from Italy with good wishes for the year ahead in this teaser image.

Named after the company's legendary founder, the Battista is set to be the debut (and flagship) model from the newly inaugurated Automobili Pininfarina – the electric-vehicle offshoot from the famed Italian coachbuilder being spun off by its new Indian parent company Mahindra.

Known until now as project PF0, the Battista is anticipated to pack some 1,900 horsepower and 1,700 lb-ft of torque. Styled by Pininfarina and developed with help from Rimac with financial backing from Mahindra, the electric hypercar is earmarked to rocket to 60 in under two seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 250 mph.

Of course, it'll come at a price: over $2 million for each of the 150 examples destined to be made, of which 50 will be bound for the North American market before Automobili Pininfarina starts fleshing out the rest of its electric-vehicle lineup.

As you can see, this fresh teaser image provides a glimpse at the nose from above, but it's just the latest in a series of preview pics released steadily over the course of the past few months from the company's headquarters in Cambiano, Italy – on the southern outskirts of Turin near the French border. We're expecting more to follow in the weeks and months ahead, but it'll all come to a head in March when Pininfarina reveals the Battista in full at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Watch this space for more.
