When the Lamborghini Urus first reared its head in 2018, the world was taken aback; here stood the first true super-SUV in all its glory, and from an Italian manufacturer no less. The Urus has proven to be quite the hit and has inspired manufacturers such as Aston Martin to come up with the DBX, and even Ferrari is planning on joining the race in the near future. While these luxury brands compete for the top spot in this niche category, Lamborghini has continued to work on the hybrid Urus which was announced way back in 2017, and according to the latest reports, we're slowly starting to learn about its ins and outs.

Lamborghini has been promising a PHEV version of its super sports SUV for the past three years, and while the worldwide pandemic has through a spanner in the works, it looks as though the LM002's successor will be making the move to an electric future. According to Car Magazine, the Urus PHEV will make use of a Porsche engine simply known as the "LK5". The number of cylinders this engine contains is still a mystery, but we expect six or eight, and power figures have been pegged at around 600 horsepower. Combined with the electric motor setup, that figure can increase to a crazy 820 hp.

If these figures are to be believed, it will put the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid to shame; this German can muster "only" 700 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Naturally, the PHEV will weigh more than its gas-only sibling, and it is estimated that it will gain as much as 551 pounds; a significant amount for a performance car, even if it's classified as an SUV. While we wait for the PHEV Urus, spy pics have revealed the Urus Evo with a fresh new look, we'll have to wait until late 2021 or early 2022 for this model to rear its head.
