You'll be able to see the Polestar 1 in the metal at Pebble Beach this month.
So far, the Polestar 1 has only been shown overseas. Polestar's debut standalone model first made its public debut at Beijing Motor Show earlier this year, and more recently made its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. If you live in the US and have been waiting to see the Polestar 1 in the metal, we have good news for you because the automaker has announced the hybrid coupe will be appearing in America for the first time later this month.
The Volvo-owned performance brand will be showcasing the Polestar 1 in California during Monterey Car Week from August 23 – 26, allowing the 200 customers who have already placed a deposit in America to see the car in the flesh.
"It's great to bring Polestar to America," said Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer at Polestar. "North America is a major market for our new brand and we have received great feedback and high interest in the Polestar 1 from our American customers. So far, nearly 200 customers have placed deposits in the United States alone – the largest number of any country. Now it's their turn to see the car in person and in a beautiful environment."
As well as being displayed at the Polestar pavilion on Peter Hay Hill at Pebble Beach, the Polestar 1 will also make an appearance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday 24 August. It will also be displayed on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday 26 August, where the company's CEO and chief designer Thomas Ingenlath has been selected as an honorary judge.
"The invitation to be an honorary judge at the Concours d'Elegance is a great honor for me. As a car designer you take so much inspiration by looking at the diverse mix of the world's most famous and beautiful historic cars alongside today's avant-garde designs. It will be a truly unique experience."
Thanks to its 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four paired to a couple of electric motors, the Polestar 1 delivers 600 hp and boasts an all-electric driving range of up to 93 miles. Polestar is currently accepting $2,500 deposits for the hybrid coupe, but you could be in for a long wait since there are already 8,000 potential customers on the waiting list and production is currently capped to 1,500 units per year.
