Polestar made no secret 2021 will be the last model year for its first-ever model, the Polestar 1, introduced in 2019. With a total of 609 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque, the gorgeous grand tourer coupe has very few build slots left. And if you're extra lucky, you might be able to snag one of the just-revealed 25 Final Editions.

With a bespoke matte gold exterior paint complete with matching calipers and black wheels, the Polestar 1 Final Edition's plug-in hybrid powertrain remains unchanged. That means owners can experience up to 77 all-electric miles courtesy of the 34-kWh battery. Polestar claims this battery-only range remains the longest of any hybrid vehicle in the world.

The interior received some added attention with gold stitching. The Polestar 1 will be the brand's only model to have a combustion engine; every new vehicle, including the already on sale Polestar 2 and the upcoming production version of the Precept concept, will be purely battery-electric.

"It's hard to believe that our beautiful halo car comes to the end of its production life later this year," said Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. "We pushed boundaries with this car, not only in terms of engineering but also in its design and execution."

Polestar planned a three-production run from the beginning so the car's discontinuation should come as no surprise.

No pricing details were announced but the Final Edition will almost certainly exceed the $155,000 base price for the regular version. That six-figure price buys you something quite unique.

"This car was not designed to fit into a box," Ingenlath added. "We didn't design it to compete with other cars, and neither did we design it to suit a specific target customer. Polestar 1 was about pushing our own boundaries, exploring a new era for Polestar and launching the brand with a strong statement - and it's done a great job of capturing the hearts and minds of fans, press and the lucky customers who own one."

Polestar didn't say when order books will open but it's highly advised to act soon if you're interested.
