Polestar 1 Transformed Into Stunning Shooting Brake

Rendering

We can dream.

Swedish automaker Polestar has been stealing the spotlight this week with the reveal of its first performance car as a standalone brand. Essentially a production version of the stunning Volvo Coupe Concept, the Polestar 1 is a curvaceous coupe with a hybrid powertrain packing 600 horsepower. As debuts go, it got people’s attention and showed Polestar’s potential. After the Polestar 1 launches in 2019 limited to 500 units per year, its successor will be an all-electric mid-sized sedan that takes on the Tesla Model 3.

Polestar is also planning to produce an electric SUV in the future. One variant that hasn’t been announced, however, is a wagon variant. So render artist X-Tomi Design decided to transform the Polestar 1 into a stunning shooting brake using the magic of Photoshop. While it doesn’t look quite as appealing as the coupe, the body style lends itself well to a shooting brake. X-Tomi’s render takes its cues from the current Volvo V90 wagon with a similar rear and an extended roofline to create additional rear space in the back. Volvo also attempted something similar back in 2014 with the Concept Estate, which evolved into the production V90. Sadly, a Polestar 1 shooting brake isn’t likely to happen.

If it did, the cargo space would have to be significantly compromised because the hybrid components are stored in the trunk. The Polestar 1 is powered by Volvo’s four-cylinder Drive-E engine combined with two electric motors to produce a combined output of 600 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. In pure electric mode, it can last for 93 miles on a single charge, making it the longest full electric range of any current hybrid car.
