Polestar, Sweden's newest luxury performance brand, wants to do things a bit differently than other automakers. Back in 2018, the company revealed that its first retail location would be based in Oslo, Norway, housed in a futuristic showroom that is not unlike an Apple Store in its appearance. Rather than call these retail spaces "dealerships," they will be known as Polestar Spaces.

So far, the only Polestar Spaces that have been announced are all located outside of the United States, meaning US consumers have not been able to buy either of the company's two models, the 2020 Polestar 1 and the 2021 Polestar 2. Now the company has finally announced its first retail partners in the US for a network of Polestar Spaces, meaning you will finally be able to buy one stateside.

The first US-based Polestar Spaces will be located in New York City, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area, which will have two locations. The operators for these initial spaces include well-established dealership groups including Manhattan Motorcars, Galpin Motors, and Price-Simms Automotive Group. These first four Polestar Spaces are slated to open in the second half of 2020 while additional locations in Boston, Denver, Texas, Washington DC, and Florida will be opened in 2021. Polestar says even more locations will be added over time.

"We have been able to partner with retailers that embrace Polestar's innovative retail and service models. This will, of course, be a major benefit to our customers," said Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar USA. "With more than 80 percent of Polestar 2 reservation holders residing within a 150-mile range of the Spaces scheduled to open by mid-2021, customers will be well supported throughout their relationship with Polestar."

Luxury shoppers will enjoy the Polestar buying experience because the company will employ non-commissioned sales specialists to provide product information and test drives. All Polestar models will include an at-home delivery and service program for customers living within 150 miles of a Polestar Space, so you never need to set foot in a dealership. Polestar says it will work with customers outside of the 150-mile range to find the "most convenient solution for their needs" and that its cars will be available for sale in all 50 US states.
