If you didn't know, Polestar is coming to conquer America, and with stunning offerings like the Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 on their way, this is the kind of invasion that we can get excited about - especially since it's not about oil. But as always with electric vehicles, there are concerns about charging time and range. Polestar has recognized this and there have been rumors swirling for some time about the Swedish automaker's potential collaboration with charging station network ChargePoint. Well, those rumors have now been confirmed, as the two brands announced today that they are officially in bed together.

So how is this collaboration going to work exactly? Well, the Polestar 2 is getting an embedded charging app that "eliminates the need to pull out your smartphone, RFID card, or other method" to charge your EV at a ChargePoint station. The app is based on Google's Android Automotive Infotainment System that runs the media on the Polestar 2 and will be embedded into the system directly, with a complimentary smartphone app launching on Google Play later this week. The app helps make it easy to find available stations, start a charging session from the vehicle, and even pay for the charging via the Polestar 2's center screen.

Another benefit is that Polestar drivers will have access to most of ChargePoint's more than 130,000 places to charge and thousands of additional public charging spots with other major charging networks across North America. And for those who want to charge at home, Polestar owners can purchase the ChargePoint Home Flex home charger when they buy their cars. The installation of the Home Flex can take place before your new Polestar arrives, so you'll be ready to go as soon as your car is ready. Both the car and the home charger can be ordered online, so this is a seamless way of getting yourself fully integrated and prepared for electric mobility.
