This is the Polestar 2 BST edition 270. It's a base model Polestar 2 tuned and fettled by Polestar Engineered. That might sound a bit confusing. Here's how the marketing plays out on this one: Polestar Engineered is Volvo's go-fast tuning arm. Polestar is Volvo's upmarket EV brand, owned by Chinese car giant Geely. So, this is a Volvo/Geely Polestar, Polestar Engineered 2. Confused? Good.

Forget all that and listen to this: 476 hp and Ohlins dampers. That's really all you need to know. The rest of this is extraneous. Go home. Or go drool over this thing in the gallery below. Your call.

If you're still here, this is, as the name might suggest, a limited-edition Polestar 2, with only 270 units being sold across Europe, North America, and China.

"We had a great reaction to the specially modified Polestar 2 we showed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021 and the response made it clear - we should create a version like that for production," says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

The car you see here includes mechanical modifications along with new design changes to differentiate it from lesser Polestar 2s. Two electric motors (that means RWD) are paired with a 78-kWh battery to produce 476 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque, with the car's software tuned for a better pedal response. Can't say "throttle response" anymore on account of the lack of throttles.

Polestar has also made a number of chassis changes, including lowering the ride height by an inch and re-tuning the car's Ohlins 2-way dampers for improved cornering speed.

Easily the coolest part about those is the mounting of the reservoirs under the hood. The springs surrounding those dampers are now 20% stiffer, and a new front strut bar has been fitted.

Polestar Engineered was apparently happy with the brakes, keeping the standard four-pot Brembos. However, new 21-inch wheels reminiscent of the Polestar 1 have been fitted with new 235-section Pirelli P Zero tires. Polestar says the new model will come in two colors: either the Snow white you see here or a Thunder (presumably grey) color.

Polestar's signature "Swedish gold" accents remain on the calipers, dampers, valve caps, and seatbelts. For now, Polestar hasn't announced a price. Given the limited run, we're expecting significantly more than the 2's MSRP of $48,400.
