Back in 2007, Mini launched the Sidewalk Edition of its iconic hatchback, and now the popular special-edition model is returning to America. Arriving in dealers next month, the 2021 Mini Sidewalk Edition starts at $38,400 plus an additional $850 destination and handling fee. Opting for the optional seven-speed sport dual-clutch transmission will add another $1,500 to the starting price. That may sound like a lot for a Mini considering you can buy the hardcore Mini John Cooper Works GP for $44,900, but the Sidewalk Edition is based on the Cooper S Convertible, which starts at $32,400 in standard spec, and is generously equipped.

The 2021 Mini Sidewalk Edition is available in "Deep Laguna Metallic" or "Mini Yours Enigmatic Black Metallic" exterior colors complemented with an anthracite soft-top roof. 17-inch Scissor Spoke two-tone wheels and distinctive accents added to the side scuttles and brushed aluminum door sills round off the exterior highlights.

Inside, the 2021 Mini Sidewalk Edition is equipped with leather seats, a custom sport leather steering wheel, and Sidewalk Edition floor mats, while custom interior illumination creates a stylish ambiance.

Standard equipment for the 2021 Mini Sidewalk Edition includes LED fog lights and headlights, a head-up display, keyless entry, and power-folding exterior mirrors with auto-dimming on both the interior and exterior mirrors. As standard, the special-edition Mini also comes with one-year access to SiriusXM satellite radio, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, an 8.8-inch touchscreen with navigation, heated front seats, storage package, and automatic climate control.

Like all Cooper S models, the new Mini Sidewalk Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 189 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds.

"The Mini Sidewalk Edition is the perfect balance between style and performance for Mini customers who are looking for top-down, sun-drenched driving this summer," said Patrick McKenna, Department Head, Product Planning, Mini USA. "The Mini Sidewalk Edition is also loaded with a full complement of premium standard features making it a true value for those who want something truly unique for the drive."
