The incredible, one-off Restomod 996 gen 911 Porsche built last year has come up for auction through Broad Arrow Auctions.

The vehicle, created in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen and designed by the famed director of Special Projects, Grant Larson, is an exceptional sports car going up for auction right when its spiritual successor, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic, goes on sale.

We don't need to tell you how little love the 996 gen 911 has received over the years. The brand's first liquid-cooled 911 has always been known as the ugly duckling of the long 911 lineage. Despite this, prices have been creeping up in recent years, and Porsche saw an opportunity to raise the cache of the car with this special restomod.

The vehicle, called the 911 Classic Club Coupe, was created in collaboration with the Porsche Club of America (PCA) and is a product of the Sonderwunsch special order division, also responsible for amazing vehicles like the 911 Sally Special tribute and this gorgeous 911 GT3 Le Mans racer.

This 996 is a prequel to the sport classic that came out in 2010 and thus has similar influences in its overall design. The vehicle, which started out as a 1999 911 Carrera with a manual transmission and 296 horsepower, was given a massive ducktail spoiler and a double-bubble roof to remind people of Porsche's road and racing cars of yesteryear.

It sits on 18-inch, Fuchs-style wheels and is painted in a gorgeous shade of Paint-To-Sample Silver called Sport Grey Metallic Paint. Dual pinstripes in Sport Grey Light and thin border stripes in Club Blau give it a sporty yet reserved look.

The vehicle was given a period correct 996.2-generation 911 GT3 drivetrain, which means an almost 100 hp increase to 381 hp and a redline of 8,000 rpm, all controlled by a six-speed manual. The car's brakes were also upgraded to those used on the first-gen GT3.

On the inside, it benefits from black and grey houndstooth seats with black leather. Blue accents are abundant throughout, and the car's name is stitched prominently on the headrests. The car's infotainment system was also updated with a modern system designed specifically for the 996. If you have a 996 and want the same, it's available as part of the Porsche Classic Communication Management range.

With it being a collaboration with PCA, it toured the country throughout 2022, making stops at events and parades. It's a superb vehicle, one that is most likely going to sell for an eye-watering amount. No auction estimate was provided, but seeing as it's a one-off, even being the most maligned generation of 911 isn't going to hold it back from costing a small fortune.
