Turbocharged 911 coming to the LA Auto Show?
These latest spy shots of the refreshed Porsche 911, wearing gray metallic instead of the prototypes standard black hue, prove the car has reached its pre-production phase. The last we heard, Porsche was planning to reveal the 911 facelift at the LA Auto Show in November, and these images support that rumor. The latest test mule also reveals some new styling details, including new door handles and a more classic-looking grille. The updated 911 will also receive a new front bumper with active air ducts and a new taillight design.
However, instead of carrying the code 991.2, a recent report suggested Porsche would codename the refreshed 911 the 992. The implication is that Porsche will be making a significant change to the stock Carrera, which some believe to be a move to turbocharged powerplants. Expect more details to emerge in the coming weeks.
