Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged capturing the moment a driver totaled a Porsche 911 during a test drive outside a luxury car dealership in Russia. Except it wasn't an overzealous customer taking the sports car for a test drive, it was a mechanic who had been entrusted to repair it, according to UK publication The Mirror. Footage shows the 911 careering around a corner at high speed, but an oncoming car brought the test drive to an abrupt end.

The sedan clips the sports car, sending it spinning out of control in a cloud of smoke and ripping the rear bumper off, before hitting a barrier. No one was hurt in the crash, luckily, but the same can't be said for the wrecked 911. Damage to the sports car was so extensive that it was beyond repair and declared a write-off.

Ironically, the 911 was originally sent into the garage for a series of diagnostic tests and could have been easily repaired. That was until the envious mechanic couldn't resist the temptation to take it out for a spin. Good luck explaining that one to dealership bosses when the CCTV clearly shows they were at fault.
