Porsche Motorsport has unveiled a new 'evo-kit' for the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, a track-only racecar loosely based on the production 911. The 992-generation GT2 RS Clubsport was revealed shortly after the latest 992-generation Carrera arrived in 2018. It came with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six generating 700 horsepower, and that's still plenty by today's standards, so Porsche has opted to keep the engine unchanged for this upgrade. That's no surprise, as the latest GT3 and GT3 RS road cars are barely more powerful than their predecessors. Porsche understands that there's only so much power you can put down to the ground effectively, and chasing power can cost overall performance.

Instead, the package focuses on refining the aero and suspension, "ensuring a more consistent performance over longer distances."

The new configuration for the customer race car sees the front section revised with a new apron and modified air intakes for brake cooling, the central front radiator, and the diffuser. The front splitter has been redesigned, too, helping to increase downforce on the front axle. This works in combination with a new and higher Gurney flap affixed to the rear wing, improving overall aerodynamic balance. The front lid has also been adapted for ventilation.

The car is also wider, with broader fenders front and rear accommodating wider wheels that have increased in size from 10.5 to 12 inches in front and from 12.5 to 13 inches in the rear. Despite wider rubber, this new version of the GT2 RS Clubsport may prove cheaper to run, as a new shock absorber setup is claimed to reduce tire wear.

Other changes include redesigned side sills and larger air outlets in the rear apron for more efficient rear brake and engine ventilation. In addition, an SRO package adds a quick-fill fueling system and reinforced side impact padding. New rain lights are also available so those in the upcoming Maserati MC20 GT2 can clearly see in which direction you went.

For those of us with less of an affinity for track driving, the roadgoing GT2 RS for the 992 generation is expected imminently. Rumors suggest that a hybrid powertrain will feature for the first time, but nothing has yet been confirmed. Fortunately, the arrival of spy shots in our inbox this week has confirmed that we won't have too long to wait before the craziest 911 of the generation is unleashed.
