Porsche 911 GT3 RS Powers into Focus

Spy Shots

Hardcore GT3 RS looks ready to rock.

Next week, Porsche will begin replacing all engines in the latest 911 GT3. Reports suggested this would affect the launch date of the hardcore GT3 RS variant, but these spy shots show the track-focused model is close to completion as the carmaker puts it through its paces at the Nurburgring. Wearing minimal camo, the prototype reveals a raft of aerodynamic features from the front bumper to the massive rear wing.

A larger lip spoiler can be seen up front with canards mounted on the sides, which are new to the RS having been previously offered on the RS 4.0. Wider fenders house a fat set of alloys, while the hood and roof have been reshaped. Underhood, the GT3’s 3.8-liter six-cylinder unit is expected to generate around 500 horsepower, and enable the GT3 RS to shift from 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds.
