Porsche isn't the type of company to sell things at a bargain. Hell, its latest 911 GT3 was launched in a color called Shark Blue that was inspired by a superyacht. The company is quite interested in offering a premium luxury experience, just as it's very interested in creating the world's finest sports cars. The latter is proven by cars such as the aforementioned GT3, while the former is shown in its clever configurator for its cars, which now uses AI to help you narrow down the ideal choices from millions of potential options. But if you think that's cool, check out Porsche Design's configurator for building your perfect watch.

As you can imagine, the site has a suitably pretentious name: Porsche Design Timepieces Configurator. And by suitably, we really do mean that it doesn't feel too pretentious or too basic. The regular configurator starts off with one basic watch, which you can then customize in almost endless ways - just like the cars. This starts at the typically lofty base price of $5,150.

The case and clasp are finished in natural titanium, which can be changed for black titanium for an extra $300. You can also modify the bezel, hands, base color of the dial and its colored ring too, strap, type of leather, color of its stitching, engraving on the plaque, and color options for the winding rotor. But (like a bad infomercial) wait, there's more!

The really cool part about picking your dream watch design from Porsche is that the winding rotor can be had with a cover that mimics any of nine "regular" 911 wheel designs, including the range-topping 911 Turbo. But what about the highest-ranking 911 GT model at the moment? Don't worry, we haven't forgotten. Owners of the GT3 get the opportunity to own a bespoke watch that owners of the regular 911 can only dream of. However, this watch costs $8,100 in its cheapest format. We tried to make the most expensive design we could and ended on a figure of $9,950 before adding any personalized engraving. For that price, it had better slow time whenever you're on track with it.
