Porsche 991 Turbo Cabrio Tests at the Ring

Spy Shots / 34 Comments

All that turbocharged flat-six goodness can soon be enjoyed with the roof down.

After unveiling the new 991-gen 911 Turbo, it was only a matter of time before Porsche started preparing its drop-top counterpart for market. And these spy shots show the new 911 Turbo Convertible stripped of any camo lapping the Nurburgring. If you looked under the hood, you'd find the Coupe's 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six, producing 520 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

It also comes with a dual-clutch automatic transmission, an overboost function that injects 37 additional lb-ft of torque for ten seconds, and active rear steering - a feature first introduced on the new 911 GT3. Aside from being heavier due to the added weight of the soft top, the 991 Turbo Cabrio will share all technical specs with the coupe.
