The successor to the famed Porsche Carrera GT will soon break cover and those wanting to buy one have already been lining up to put their names on the list. The 918 Spyder will officially go on sale in the US and other parts of the world for model year 2014 at a starting price of $845,000. Now, bear in mind this price doesn't include destination and handling fees along with other options. Buyers are fully aware they'll be paying close to or over $1 million by the time it's all said and done.

For example, by checking the box for the Weissach package, which includes a lighter curb weight by removing the car's audio system, a/c, armrests and exterior paint in favor of a foil wrap, will push the overall price up to $929,000. Yes, you're paying more for less stuff. But one must remember, the 918 Spyder will be no ordinary supercar. It'll be powered by a 4.6-liter V8 that'll produce 580 horsepower. This engine will be paired up with two electric motors that provide an additional 245 hp for a combined output of 795 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. Porsche claims it'll go from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph.
