In the latest promo video from Porsche, the iconic cars and racing legends that inspired the new 2013 Boxster are rolled out en masse, lining up in formation on a race track in a sight that needs to be seen. Among those starring alongside Stuttgart's latest baby roadster are the 550 Spyder, 908 and 914 that came before it. Compared to the model it replaces, the new Boxster is lighter, longer, wider and more powerful. Simply put, it's the best version of itself.

The 2013 Porsche Boxster packs a 2.7-liter flat-six with 265 horsepower for a 5.4-second 0-60 time, while the Boxster S employs a 3.4-liter flat-six with 315 hp and a 4.7-second sprint. Both engines can be mated to either a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed PDK. Prices start at $49,500.
