Porsche Carrera GT Finished In Speedster Blue Is A Low Mileage Stunner

Supercars / 1 Comment

It's likely the only one of its kind, thanks to the '50s color.

The Carrera GT is undoubtedly one of Porsche's most iconic models, ranking up there with the likes of the 959 and 918 Spyder. There's also an argument for it being Porsche's purest modern driver's car.

Unfortunately, it's also a rare car, with only 1,270 built. It's no surprise that Porsche's new millennium supercar attracts prices well over a million dollars when they pop up for auction.

This 2004 model is expected to fetch between $1.5 million and $1.8 million at the Broad Arrow Auctions Porsche 75th Anniversary sale in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 8-10 this year.

The Carrera GT is powered by a 5.7-liter V10 engine, originally developed to be raced in a Le Mans prototype car. It produces 603 horsepower at 8,000 rpm along with 435 lb-ft of torque, making it, with a few changes made for emissions and noise rules, a poster child for a race engine for the road. Even with the sound suppression used to make it street-legal, it's an awesome-sounding car.

It was also the first car to use pure carbon fiber for its monocoque chassis and subframe. The car weighed just 3,042 pounds (almost 200 pounds less than a BMW 3 Series coupe of the same era).

Even by current supercar standards, the performance figures are supercar standard, with a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 206mph. The big difference is that the Carrera GT had minimal driver aids, even for the time, and only came with a six-speed manual transmission.

New Country Porsche in Connecticut sold this particular Carrera GT onto the market and stayed with the original owner until 2009. In 2022, it was repainted by Porsche North Houston in Speedster Blue - a rare Porsche color that was only available from the factory on specific 1954 and 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster models. It's being sold along with the original factory luggage in Dark Grey leather.

Amazingly for a car so revered as an analog supercar for purest drivers, this Carrera GT only has only a criminal 2,262 miles on the odometer. It's unfathomable to us how someone can own a car like this and barely drive it.

This car is possibly under the recent recall Porsche made due to suspension components, but we wouldn't worry about it and can be confident Porsche will ensure it's safe to drive.
