Porsche Cayenne Coupe Spied With Almost No Camouflage

Spy Shots / Comments

Those full-width taillights are starting to take shape.

Our spy photographers have braved the icy chill of northern Sweden to bring you the latest images of the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Coupe, or at least a pre-production version thereof. With a little touch of camo around the headlights and taillights, the sleek SUV looks just about ready for a full reveal.

This particular prototype wears the same rear diffuser and carries the same central exhaust layout as the existing Cayenne Turbo GT, but it seems to do without the aggressive roof spoiler of that vehicle. What it does have is a yellow decal on the windscreen that indicates a hybrid powertrain, and this gives us a couple of theories.

On the one hand, the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid may be gaining the same sort of styling as the Turbo GT. But an equally plausible explanation is that the Turbo GT is getting hybrid assistance for its second coming. As Porsche aims to lower its CO2 emissions while enhancing the performance of its record-breaking SUV, a hybrid powertrain would make sense. That said, a carbon fiber roof does not appear to be present here. The diffuser and mirror caps also appear to be fashioned from plastic rather than carbon fiber, and we do not see the same style of wheels that earlier Cayenne GT test vehicles were equipped with.

All of this evidence seems to suggest that the rear-end styling of the hybridized Cayenne Coupe will be getting a little more aggressive; perhaps the Cayenne Turbo GT will get another all-new look for its diffuser panel and exhaust tips.

Whatever the truth of the matter, we don't have long to wait, as the minimal levels of camo suggest a reveal of the updated Cayenne range is imminent. However, we suspect that the Turbo GT version will not be released right off the bat with the rest of its more everyday siblings. We'll bring you more as we get it.
