Social networking is certainly having an impact on the auto industry. As Porsche and countless other automakers have learned, this type of media can have many benefits for publicity and promotion. And now, Porsche is celebrating their 1 millionth Facebook fan with a special 911 GTR 3 Hybrid. Although it's not for sale, it will be on display at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. And don't let the hybrid in the name fool you.

It packs a total of 480 hp from its 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder engine and two electric motors in the front axle that can produce up to 80 hp each. This all-new hybrid system was developed specifically for use in a race car, as it has little in common with the more traditional hybrid system in terms of both design and expected performance. Instead of batteries, the electric motors are powered by an electric flywheel accumulator that's charged during braking. At last year's 24 Hours of Nurburgring, this Porsche technology proved itself to fully capable of optimal performance.
